The My Life... My Way video showcases consumers and families and their experience with Self-Determination. They share the ways in which Self-Determination has brought meaningful change into their lives. Excerpt 1 covers Self-Determination Plan design as it tells the story of Jon, an independent living adult. Excerpt 2 explores plan approval as it relates the story of Lisa, a child with a rare genetic disorder.

                  

 

Successful Communities shows various adults with developmental disabilities living successfully in their communities. Excerpt 1 discusses that negative, social attitudes can place barriers on people's lives. It notes that successful communities have supportive families, good schools, healthy economies and the capacity to utlize the talents of each member to improve the quality of life. Excerpt 2 gives various accounts of adults with developmental disabilities living and working successfully in their communities.                 

                   

  

Kids & Community discusses services the San Diego Regional Center provides to children and the role of the service coordinator. Excerpt 1 shows the successes Jameka has made participating in her Karate Class. Excerpt 2 highlights the community activities that Kevin and John participate in.
